Mahanaryaman Scindia is on the verge of becoming the new president of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA). This development is almost certain, given that no other individual has come forward to contest the position. This signifies the continuation of a family tradition, with Mahanaryaman preparing to be the third generation of the Scindia family to lead the MPCA. His predecessors in this role were Madhavrao Scindia and Jyotiraditya Scindia, both of whom held the MPCA presidency for extended periods.
The selection of Mahanaryaman Rao Scindia as the new president of MPCA is highly probable. He is the son of Jyotiraditya Scindia, a central minister and a prominent figure in the BJP. Mahanaryaman has been active in cricket administration, currently holding the position of president of the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) and vice-president of the Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA).
The official appointment of Mahanaryaman as the new MPCA president will take place during the state cricket body’s annual general meeting, scheduled for September 2nd in Indore. As the only candidate, his unopposed election is almost assured. He will be succeeding Abhilash Khandekar in this role.
Khandekar, a seasoned journalist and author, assumed the MPCA presidency in 2019 with the backing of Jyotiraditya Scindia. At the age of 28, Mahanaryaman is set to uphold the Scindia family’s legacy by leading the state cricket board.
He has served as the vice-president of the Gwalior Division Cricket Association since 2022. He played a key role in initiating the Madhya Pradesh League, which is the premier and only franchise league in the state, organized by GDCA under the MPCA. This league has been recognized for providing a platform for many talented young cricketers from across Madhya Pradesh.
Moreover, the election of other executive committee members, including Vineet Sethia (vice-president), Sudhir Asnani (secretary), and Sanjay Dua (treasurer), is also virtually confirmed. The executive committee also includes Rajiv Risodkar, Prashun Kanmadi, Vijeas Rana, and Sandhya Agarwal. For the post of joint secretary, Prem Patel, Rajesh Bhargav, and Amardeep Pathania had taken the forms, and Amardeep Pathania has filled the form for this post.
The Scindia family has consistently held a dominant position within the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association. Madhavrao Scindia, who was also a cricketer, held the position of MPCA president. Following him, Jyotiraditya Scindia took on this responsibility and subsequently became a Member of Parliament and a Union Minister. Now, Jyotiraditya’s son, Mahanaryaman Scindia, is also stepping into politics and will undertake the role of MPCA president.
