
A reporter from a Nagaland-based TV channel was the target of a shooting while reporting on the ‘Zinnia Flower Festival’ or ‘Cherry Blossom Festival’ held in Laii village, Senapati district, Manipur. The attack occurred at approximately 4 pm. Deep Saikia, the journalist, suffered injuries to his right leg and below the armpit. He was promptly taken to Senapati District Hospital for immediate medical attention, with subsequent transfer to Nagaland for advanced treatment. Medical authorities have confirmed that Saikia is now in stable condition. Following the incident, Manipur police registered an FIR and seized the presumed weapon, a pressurized air rifle. According to a senior police officer, the suspect has been identified, and a team is working to make an arrest. The reason behind the attack remains unknown.
