On Tuesday, Pakistan experienced a wave of violence as three suicide attacks took place, resulting in 22 fatalities and 40 injuries. In Balochistan, a suicide bomber detonated during a rally, leading to the death of at least 11 people. Concurrently, an explosion in a stadium parking area in Quetta injured 40, with members of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) present at the scene. In a separate incident within Balochistan, near the Iranian border, a roadside bomb killed five and injured four. No group has claimed responsibility for this bombing. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a suicide attack targeting a military base resulted in the death of six soldiers. An official indicated that the attack commenced when a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-filled vehicle into the FC camp gate, followed by the entry of five attackers. A 12-hour firefight ensued, killing all six attackers. The Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack. Data reveals that since January 1st, over 430 people have died due to violence perpetrated by armed groups in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with most casualties being members of security forces. The Pakistani army has been engaged in counter-extremism operations in the region for over ten years, and 2024 has seen a substantial increase in violence, with 782 deaths recorded.
