During a radio show appearance, President Donald Trump discussed trade relations with India, asserting that India is the most highly tariffed nation. He explained his decision to implement a 50% tariff on Indian products, claiming that India has now offered him a no-tariff arrangement. Trump believes that his focus on tariffs forced India’s hand in making this offer. He also emphasized the lopsided trade between the two countries, where India sells significantly more goods to the U.S. than vice versa, something he described as a disaster. He also noted that India purchases its oil and military products primarily from Russia, not the United States.
