In a move to enhance passenger safety, the North Central Railway (NCR) is set to equip 1,782 coaches with CCTV cameras. The project will cover coaches across the Prayagraj, Jhansi, and Agra divisions, including both LHB and ICF types. The initiative is part of a comprehensive plan to protect the millions of passengers traveling on these routes. The installation will be implemented in phases, with priority given to important trains such as the Prayagraj-Dr. Ambedkar Nagar Express and the Kalindi Express. Premium trains like the Prayagraj Express and Shramshakti Express will be equipped with advanced AI-enabled cameras for real-time surveillance and quick detection of any suspicious behavior. AC coaches will be fitted with four high-quality cameras, while general coaches, SLR coaches, and pantry cars will have six cameras to ensure comprehensive coverage. The cameras are designed to operate effectively even at high speeds and in low-light environments, ensuring clear video recordings. Footage will be monitored in real time at NCR headquarters and divisional offices to facilitate immediate responses. This effort demonstrates the Indian Railways’ dedication to safe travel and is in line with its broader strategy to modernize and implement technological security measures.
