A video from Mahubabad town in Telangana has gone viral, showing a physical confrontation between two women over bags of urea. The incident occurred at the Agros Rythu Seva Kendra at Vivekananda center and has caught the attention of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The video captures the women pulling at each other’s hair and engaging in a physical fight on a public road. Two men eventually stepped in to separate them. Instead of de-escalating the situation, bystanders on the road were observed cheering and whistling.
The conflict arose after farmers lined up with their Aadhaar card photocopies to acquire fertilizer bags. The queue resulted in jostling, which rapidly deteriorated into a fight. This video was quickly circulated on social media platforms.
CM Revanth Reddy responded to the viral video, acknowledging that while urea stocks are present, the appearance of long queues can create a sense of scarcity and confusion. He remarked that a large crowd in one place can make the line look long, even with adequate stock, likening it to a popular movie where the queue might seem endless.
Reddy also pointed out that long waiting times could cause frustration, further aggravating the situation. He said that someone at the end of a queue of 1,000 people could face an eight-hour wait. This prolonged waiting without patience can lead to frustration and claims of urea unavailability, resulting in protests.
In a related incident, another video from the same district shows farmers swarming the owner of an Agro center, who was distributing urea tokens on Saturday, September 6, in Nellikudur mandal of Mahabubabad. The farmers surrounded the owner and attempted to get the tokens. As the situation became increasingly difficult to control, the agro center owner started throwing the tokens to free himself.
