A heated political dispute has emerged after former MLA Rajballabh Yadav made offensive remarks about the wife of Tejashwi Yadav, the former Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader, during a public meeting on Sunday. The RJD has responded with strong protests against Yadav’s comments. This address was Rajballabh Yadav’s first public appearance of note since being released from jail.
During his speech, Rajballabh Yadav criticized Tejashwi Yadav’s marriage. He stated that Tejashwi Yadav uses caste to gain votes but did not marry within the same caste. He commented that it would have been better if Tejashwi had married a girl from the Yadav community. He questioned the choice of a wife from outside the state, using a disparaging comparison.
The RJD workers expressed strong displeasure after Yadav’s comments. RJD members protested in Nawada, burning effigies of Rajballabh Yadav. Renu Singh, the RJD district president, condemned the statements, stating that disrespect towards women would not be accepted.
It has been reported that Rajballabh Yadav has been at odds with the party for a long time. His wife, Vibha Devi, secured the MLA seat from Nawada on the RJD ticket in 2020.
Notably, Vibha Devi was present on the BJP stage during a rally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gaya recently, leading to speculation of her increasing association with the ruling party.
This controversy has invigorated political activity in Nawada. Kaushal Yadav, a former JDU MLA, recently joined the RJD.
Rajballabh Yadav is known for his influence within the Yadav community. Political experts believe that the actions of Rajballabh Yadav and his wife are causing a shift in the political dynamics of Nawada, with Yadav’s recent comments signaling a complete fallout with the RJD.
