Rajballabh Yadav, a former MLA from the RJD, has created a significant political controversy with his remarks about Tejashwi Yadav’s wife. The comments, made after Yadav’s release from jail, have intensified political tensions in Bihar. Yadav’s remarks were directed at Tejashwi Yadav’s marriage and his wife, which resulted in considerable opposition from the RJD.
In a public speech, Rajballabh Yadav criticized Tejashwi Yadav for marrying outside of his community. He suggested that marrying within the Yadav community would have been more advantageous. This comment has led to strong reactions and protests from the RJD party members.
Rajballabh Yadav’s recent release from jail, where he served time, has brought him back into the political spotlight. He was acquitted by the Patna High Court in a case involving the alleged rape of a minor.
His political career began with an independent win in 1995, followed by a victory on an RJD ticket in 2000, which led to a ministerial position. Despite this early success, he was unsuccessful in the following three elections.
In 2015, he was elected again due to the JDU-RJD-Congress alliance. The charges of rape of a minor surfaced in February 2016, leading to his conviction in December 2018.
Following his conviction, Yadav lost his membership in the Bihar Assembly. The by-election held in 2019 saw the JDU candidate win, while his wife, Vibha Devi, won the 2020 election as an RJD candidate.
Rajballabh Yadav was suspended from the RJD in 2016 and barred from contesting elections following his conviction. The Patna High Court overturned the lower court’s decision and acquitted him in August of the alleged rape charges. The incident allegedly took place in February 2016.
Tejashwi Yadav is married to Rachel Godinho, his childhood friend from Chandigarh. The couple married in 2021 and subsequently, she changed her name to Rajshree Yadav. Yadav’s comments about Tejashwi Yadav’s wife led to outrage and retaliatory statements from the RJD.
