Shimron Hetmyer received batting practice from Guyana’s President Irfaan Ali before a crucial CPL 2025 match, but the session did not translate to success on the field. This marks the third time this season that the team has faced such an unfortunate outcome. Hetmyer, playing for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, experienced a 5-run defeat against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. This loss added to Guyana’s record, being their third defeat in seven matches.
A video captured before the Caribbean Premier League match shows President Irfaan Ali of Guyana providing batting practice to Shimron Hetmyer. The President threw numerous balls to Hetmyer, and they discussed various batting techniques.
After the practice with the President, Hetmyer’s performance in the match was disappointing. Despite the practice, Hetmyer failed to perform well. He was out after scoring only 9 runs. Naseem Shah of St. Kitts bowled him.
Guyana Amazon Warriors faced a similar fate, losing by 5 runs. St. Kitts and Patriots scored 149 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Guyana could only manage 144 runs for 8 wickets in their 20 overs.
This was Guyana’s third loss in 7 matches in CPL 2025. For St. Kitts, it was their third win in 9 matches.
