
The murder of 70-year-old Lukuia Dhiwar came to light on Monday in Ghodasai village, Ghatshila police station area, East Singhbhum district. The victim’s throat had been cut. The crime occurred late Sunday night.
On Monday morning, the villagers became suspicious when they found her house door closed. Upon entering, they discovered her blood-soaked body. The news has caused widespread panic and fear within the community.
Police have detained a young man from the village, acting on suspicion, and are currently questioning him about the crime.
Local residents shared that Lukuia Dhiwar had been living alone in her home for a long period. Two years ago, she was previously assaulted by Sunil Dhiwar, who accused her of being a witch. The matter was reported to the police but was resolved through a settlement. Following this recent incident, there is speculation among the villagers whether this murder is connected to the previous altercation.
Authorities have launched an investigation at the scene. A forensic team has been called to gather evidence, including the weapon used and other crucial details. The SDPO of Ghatshila stated that interrogation of the suspect is underway, with plans to reveal the details of the case soon.
