Another person who pursued the attacker was also shot and injured. The event took place in the Jhakhra Tanda area, under the Ratu police station’s jurisdiction.
The attacker shot Ravi Saw three times in Jhakhra Tanda, leading to his death. Balma, who attempted to apprehend the attacker, was critically injured by gunfire. The event has sent shockwaves across the community. Upon learning of the situation, Rural SP Praveen Pushkar, DSP, and the Ratu police swiftly went to the scene. A forensic team was also present to gather evidence.
Initial investigations indicate a potential land dispute as a possible motive for the crime. The deceased, a resident of Tundwa, Chatra district, had his body taken by the police for a post-mortem examination. The injured individual, Balma, was admitted to RIMS hospital for medical treatment. The precise reasons behind the shooting remain undetermined, though initial investigations point towards a land dispute.
The assailant escaped after the shooting. According to SP Praveen Pushkar, Dadu Balma and Ravi Saw were consuming alcohol at Pradeep Munda’s residence when the unknown assailant arrived and fatally shot Ravi Saw. Balma, who gave chase to the shooter, was also shot. Surveillance footage from the area is being analyzed. Moreover, checking operations are active at entry and exit points of Ranchi to capture the suspect.
The incident has created fear and unease among locals. This latest act of violence follows the murder of Sahil Giddi, also known as Kurkure, in the Hindpidhi police station area of Ranchi on August 10th. The community protested that murder, leading to vandalism and arson at the homes of those believed to be involved, including a former councilor.
