
Phulwari Sharif police in Patna, Bihar, have arrested a man for impersonating an IPS officer and engaging in fraudulent activities. The suspect, named Asrar Ahmed, was apprehended based on secret information. He is accused of pretending to be a high-ranking officer (ADG) to extort money from unsuspecting individuals.
Ahmed misled people by claiming he was assigned to the police headquarters. Moreover, he meddled in land disputes, issuing threats. A criminal case has been filed against Ahmed, involving multiple serious charges. Police sources said Ahmed used mobile phones and emails to carry out his fraudulent schemes.
More than six individuals are believed to have been victimized by Ahmed. A government employee was also among those defrauded. He presented himself as an ADG officer to intimidate people and demand money.
The police are now probing into the extent of Ahmed’s fraud network. Following interrogation, Ahmed has been placed in judicial custody. The police are attempting to find more victims and are rigorously investigating this case.
