
Angnesh Minj, the headmistress of the Jamjunnawani Primary School, was defrauded online, resulting in a loss of ₹2.65 lakhs. The scam occurred when she was lured into transferring money to a fraudulent account. The incident started with a phone call from an unknown number. The caller asked if she used PhonePe. Upon confirming, the caller asked about her account balance. The headmistress stated she had approximately ₹3 lakhs. The scammer offered a scheme promising a return of ₹3.18 lakhs if she sent ₹3 lakhs. The headmistress, believing the offer, transferred a total of ₹2.65 lakhs through her and her PhonePe accounts to the provided account. When the promised amount wasn’t credited, she realized she had been deceived. A complaint has been filed at the Pathalgaon police station, and an investigation has been launched by the authorities.
