According to Dr. S. Siddharth, the Development Commissioner, Aadhaar is a key component for efficient digital governance. It not only facilitates access to governmental programs for citizens but also aids in the precise identification of rightful beneficiaries. He was speaking at a one-day workshop in Patna, organized by the Bihar government’s Information Technology Department, which focused on Aadhaar verification and enhancing digital governance.
Dr. Siddharth revealed that Aadhaar verification has been instrumental in identifying and invalidating numerous fraudulent ration cards within Bihar. The matter of Aadhaar cards is connected to multiple government departments. He noted the problems that arise from the varying numbers associated with different identification documents that an individual possesses, such as Aadhaar, voter ID, PAN, and bank accounts, which creates difficulty in the process of identifying individuals.
