
A horrific crime that occurred in Korba, Chhattisgarh, on December 24, 2022, has resulted in a life sentence for the accused. Sahban Khan, a man from Ahmedabad, was found guilty of the brutal murder of his girlfriend. The evidence presented in court showed that Khan, fueled by suspicion and jealousy, raped the 20-year-old woman and then inflicted 51 stab wounds using a screwdriver.
Khan, who worked as a bus conductor, met the victim during his travels. Their relationship grew, and he had considered marrying her. However, his suspicion that she was seeing another man ignited his rage. He tried to stop her communication with others, and even threatened her family.
The investigation revealed that Khan flew from Ahmedabad to Raipur before traveling to Korba. He committed the murder after an argument at her home. The victim was found dead by her brother. Police collected evidence, including blood-stained items, from the scene. After a lengthy investigation aided by the cyber cell, Khan was arrested in Gujarat. He confessed to his crime during questioning.
The District Court’s Special Judge, Jaideep Garg, presided over the case and found Sahban Khan guilty. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of 75,000 rupees. The court also mandated that he serve an additional 18 months if the fine was not paid.
