Mukesh Sahani, leader of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), participated in the TV9 Digital Bihar meeting in Patna, discussing the upcoming elections. His party is a component of the Mahagathbandhan, aiming for a significant seat share in the state. Sahani confirmed his allegiance to the Grand Alliance and revealed that he still receives offers from the BJP. He shared a story about the BJP offering him the Chief Minister position in the future. Sahani highlighted that he has demonstrated that the son of a Mallah is not limited to fishing, but can also create MLAs, Chief Ministers, and ministers. He also mentioned that the BJP had attempted to break his MLAs. According to Sahani, the BJP’s concern is not about him personally, but rather about the potential for a Nishad community member to gain power and demand their rightful share.
When questioned about his Deputy CM ambitions, Sahani explained that their alliance involves six parties, each relying on allies. He stated that Tejashwi Yadav would lead the election campaign under the Mahagathbandhan, and he would be the CM. Sahani confirmed that the government would be formed by the Grand Alliance, and the son of an extremely backward class with 11% vote share would play a key role, therefore a Mallah’s son could become the Deputy CM.
Regarding seat distribution, Sahani mentioned that his party had secured 14-15% of the votes independently in past by-elections. His party is fighting the election with Congress as the main ally, and they aim to secure a high number of seats. He did not specify the exact number of seats, only that they would compete for a substantial number. Sahani believes that his presence ensures government formation and thus there is no need for negotiation.
Sahani criticized CM Nitish Kumar for the current state of Bihar, highlighting issues such as corruption and the deteriorating law and order situation. He expressed his hope that the people of Bihar would give them an opportunity to establish a strong government and meet the public’s expectations.
