Rupali Ganguly’s acting garners praise in each episode, and viewers adored the on-screen partnership between Ganguly and Gaurav Khanna, who played Anuj Kapadia. Following Khanna’s exit, a replacement actor has not been announced. Khanna is now a contestant on Bigg Boss 19.
Producer Rajan Shahi revealed facing opposition to Khanna’s casting. Some industry professionals voiced concerns, pointing out that Khanna’s previous shows were unsuccessful. Despite the negativity, Shahi cast Khanna, resulting in a memorable character.
Shahi stated in an interview that he sought an actor to depict Anuj’s serious yet affectionate nature. After finding Khanna’s profile, he contacted him immediately. He recounted, “Several individuals, including some celebrities, mentioned to me that Gaurav’s shows had not succeeded, and he was unlucky. I am disheartened when I hear such remarks. I have received similar comments about myself from the beginning, which makes me quite irritated.” He further added, “Each element possesses its own rhythm and fate, and no individual should be held responsible for determining that.”
Shahi indicated that Khanna was not required to audition. He was only asked to attend a look test, and he was then chosen. Shahi noted, “Anuj’s character had substantial confidence. Before Gaurav’s arrival, Rupali had already elevated Anupama to new heights, but Gaurav was determined to prove himself. He hadn’t appeared in a series for 6-7 years, and he showcased his best performance in the show.”
Khanna’s portrayal of Anuj Kapadia garnered him significant affection from the audience. The love story of Anupama and Anuj significantly boosted the show’s popularity. Khanna chose to leave the show in 2024 after three years. He has since been seen in Celebrity MasterChef and is now on Salman Khan’s reality show, Bigg Boss 19, where he strives to deliver his best.
