The year 2025 is witnessing the continued dominance of the South Indian film industry. Numerous South Indian films released this year have achieved substantial financial success, surprising audiences worldwide with their impressive collections. The latest to join this roster is ‘Lokah Chapter 1,’ directed by Kalyani Priyadarshan. This film, having been in theaters for 15 days, has shown remarkable performance at the box office, outshining many other films. Let’s examine how much ‘Lokah Chapter 1’ has earned within these two weeks and compare its success with that of the film ‘Dil Madrasi.’
‘Lokah’ reportedly had a budget of approximately 30 crore rupees, and in contrast, it has earned many times that amount worldwide. The Indian collection has exceeded 100 crore rupees, while global earnings are over 200 crore rupees. The gross collection in India amounts to 114.35 crore rupees. Furthermore, the overseas collection has reached 96.15 crore rupees. The worldwide collection for ‘Lokah’ has hit 210.50 crore rupees. On its 15th day, the film earned 3.85 crore rupees, which contributes to a total collection of 214.35 crore rupees.
‘Dil Madrasi’ had an estimated budget of around 200 crore rupees. The film has not even reached the 100 crore mark within its first week. This suggests the movie isn’t getting the audience it needs.
The gross collection of ‘Dil Midrasi’ is 55.25 crore rupees. With the 7th-day collection included, the film’s earnings amount to 57.25 crore rupees. The overseas collection is 22 crore rupees. Thus, the worldwide collection is approximately 78 crore rupees, which is not particularly high. The film is far from recovering its budget. With new movies hitting the box office, ‘Madrasi’ might struggle to recover its investment.
