Artificial intelligence is increasingly being implemented across multiple sectors. Now, AI has made its entry into government and politics. Albania has become the first nation to appoint an AI minister to tackle corruption within its government. This virtual minister, named Diela, which means ‘sun,’ is expected to bring enhanced transparency and help eliminate corruption within government contracts.
Prime Minister Edi Rama explained that Diela, an AI-generated bot, will be a virtual member of the cabinet. The AI minister will work to ensure that government contracts are completely free from corruption. Albania’s National Agency for Information Society’s website indicates that Diela will leverage advanced AI models and techniques to fulfill her responsibilities.
