
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his sorrow over the devastating truck accident in Hassan, Karnataka, and announced financial assistance for the victims. The PMO stated that the families of those who lost their lives in the incident will receive 200,000 rupees from the PMNRF, while the injured will receive 50,000 rupees each.
The accident occurred during the immersion procession of Ganesh idols in Hassan. A truck lost control and collided with the crowd, leading to the death of nine people on the spot. Twenty-two others sustained injuries and were rushed to a private hospital in Hassan for treatment. The accident took place in Mosale Hosahalli village.
Reports from authorities indicate that many of the deceased were young men. Witnesses reported that the truck, coming from the direction of Arkalgud, was involved in the incident.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah conveyed his condolences and assured that the government is with the affected families during this time. The government will provide an ex-gratia payment of 500,000 rupees to the families who lost their loved ones. The state government will also cover all medical expenses for the injured individuals.
Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy extended his sympathies and requested the government to ensure free medical treatment for all those injured in the tragic accident.
