Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister, has made a significant announcement aimed at supporting journalists. The last date for submitting applications for the health and accident group insurance scheme, designed for communication representatives, has been extended from September 22nd to September 27th. Additionally, in the 2025-26 financial year, journalists will pay the same premium amount as they did in the 2024-25 financial year.
Dr. Yadav acknowledged the vital role of journalists in society and affirmed the state government’s commitment to their welfare. He noted that although insurance premiums have increased from the previous year, the government will absorb the extra costs. This commitment translates to an estimated additional expenditure of Rs 4.50 crore for the state.
The Chief Minister made it clear that the previously decided premium will remain consistent for journalists each year to prevent any additional financial burden. The group insurance scheme, managed by the Public Relations Department, will be further improved, making it more accessible and beneficial for journalists.
