Rahul Gandhi visited Punjab to assess the damage from the recent floods. He began his assessment in the Amritsar area, visiting affected villages and interacting with residents. He then traveled to Ghonewal village in Ajnala, one of the areas hardest hit by the floods, to further evaluate the situation. Following this, he visited a flood-affected village in Gurdaspur by tractor. Gandhi also visited Gurdwara Sri Samadh Baba Buddha Ji Sahib, offering prayers for peace and stability. The Congress party has called for assistance for those affected by the floods, highlighting the widespread devastation and displacement. The state has experienced substantial loss of life and property, with many people residing in relief camps. The floods resulted from the overflowing of the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers, combined with heavy rainfall in the region.
