The RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav is set to launch the ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ on Tuesday, with the starting point being Jehanabad. The yatra will encompass numerous districts including Nalanda, Begusarai, Patna, Khagaria, and Samastipur, culminating in Vaishali on September 20th. It’s worth noting that Yadav’s constituency, Raghopur, is in Vaishali, as is Mahua, where his elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, previously served as an MLA. Tej Pratap is considering running for election again from this seat.
The first phase of the ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra,’ spanning from September 16th to 20th, will see Tejashwi Yadav visiting key locations. These include Nalanda, the home district of CM Nitish Kumar, and Begusarai, the constituency of Union Minister Giriraj Singh, in addition to Patna, Khagaria, Madhepura, Supaul, Saharsa, and Samastipur. A video shared by Yadav on social media outlined the purpose of the yatra, urging participation and highlighting the focus on job creation, women’s safety, and the prosperity of Bihar, rather than just his personal ambitions.
Sources within the NDA have indicated that the decision to embark on the ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ was prompted by perceived reluctance from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to name Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate during the recent ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’. According to Sanjay Yadav, a Rajya Sabha member and close associate of Yadav, the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ addressed issues with voter list accuracy. The ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra,’ in contrast, aims to provide the leader an opportunity to connect with the people, a crucial aspect of his political approach.
