The Uttar Pradesh government is set to provide relief to vehicle owners by cancelling old e-challans. The Transport Department’s decision to cancel non-tax e-challans issued between 2017 and 2021 is expected to affect over 12 lakh pending cases. The move aims to streamline administrative processes, reduce the backlog in courts, and ease the process for vehicle owners seeking services like fitness certificates and permits. The department will update the e-challan portal within a month, allowing vehicle owners to check their status online.
