A strategic mutual defense pact between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, signed on September 17, 2025, has prompted a response from India’s Ministry of External Affairs. The pact, which declares that an attack on either nation constitutes an attack on both, was acknowledged by the MEA. The Indian government stated it would examine the implications of this development for India’s national security, and regional and global stability. The agreement was formalized during a visit by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Riyadh, hosted by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. The pact builds on nearly eight decades of collaboration.
