A harrowing story unfolds from Patna, Bihar, where a woman has come forward with accusations against her husband. She alleges her husband created a fake Facebook profile in his mother’s name to circulate private videos of her. She also accuses him of physical assault and threats to her life. The woman, 26, married the man from Samastipur six years ago.
The woman explained that during their marriage, the groom was falsely presented as a five-star hotel owner; he was only educated up to the 10th grade, unlike her B.Com qualification. Her husband’s addiction to betting on IPL matches destroyed their home. She outlined the financial ruin caused by his gambling habit.
She explained that her husband took out loans in her name shortly after their wedding. These were followed by more loans, all of which he used for cricket betting. In 2021, she gave birth to their daughter. Her husband even gambled away the money they received as blessings for their daughter.
Despite her efforts to convince her husband to stop, he continued. She eventually moved to her parents’ house temporarily. When she attempted to return home, her husband demanded 1 lakh rupees. A village council tried to mediate, but the abuse persisted.
During this difficult time, a neighbor, Aman Kumar, offered her help, secretly providing food and milk for her child. A friendship developed between them.
The woman stated that during this period, her husband attempted to kill her. After she cried out for help, neighbors and Aman gathered. Aman, angered by the husband’s behavior, offered to take her to her mother. The husband then falsely accused her of having an affair with Aman, and Aman confirmed the affair in a moment of anger.
The husband then insisted they marry publicly if their relationship was true, or he would kill them both. Subsequently, he forced another man to fill her parting line with sindoor. She moved back to her parents’ home. Later, the husband asked her mother to collect their daughter’s belongings.
When her mother visited, the husband physically assaulted her, even strangling her and stealing her phone. He further created a fake Facebook account in her name and shared their private videos. The woman filed a case in the cybercrime police station in June and an FIR was registered. Her husband was arrested but released within days. A civil court case followed. The case is now in Patna High Court, with a hearing set for November 11. The husband now says he wants to live with his wife and daughter and doesn’t want a divorce.
