A recent transfer order issued by the Urban Administration and Development Department in Chhattisgarh has highlighted significant administrative failings. The order transferred Sub-Engineer Yoganand Som, who had been stationed at the Dalli Rajhara municipality, to the Tumgaon Nagar Panchayat. However, Som had died two months prior to the transfer.
The error has raised serious questions about the department’s diligence in updating employee records and its overall operational efficiency. The transfer order was issued without proper verification of the individual’s status, indicating a serious lapse in administrative procedures.
Following the discovery of the mistake, the department has amended the transfer order. This event serves as a stark reminder of the need for improved oversight and meticulous record-keeping to prevent similar errors in the future.
