The Non-Gazetted Employees Federation and the Swachh Bharat Mission Employees Union approached Minister Yogendra Prasad with a plea to address the grievances of the Block Coordinators and Social Motivators. These workers, who had been serving since 2006, were terminated from their positions on July 24th. The employees’ union contested this decision, arguing it was against the rules. The workers had filed a petition in the Jharkhand High Court, and the court had issued a stay order against their removal. Despite this, the department has not reinstated the workers. The union demanded that all appointments on these posts be canceled. The Minister expressed that the decision to remove long-serving employees instead of regularizing them was unacceptable. He referenced a letter from the Personnel Department that indicated the government would consider regularizing the services of irregular employees with more than 10 years of service. The Minister assured the delegation that action would be taken on their demands. The union’s other demands included a monthly honorarium of Rs 40,000, permanent employment, leave approvals, and all the benefits enjoyed by the state employees.
