A bizarre incident from Korba, Chhattisgarh has unveiled a severe issue. An arrest warrant was issued for a person who had died 18 months before the warrant’s issuance. This incident highlights critical procedural errors within the police and legal systems.
The case involves Dilip Dubey, a resident of MP Nagar in Korba. He died on January 31, 2024. The court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, however, issued an arrest warrant against him on September 19, 2024. The warrant demanded his arrest for not appearing as a witness in a case.
Dubey’s family members report that the police did not issue a summons before issuing the arrest warrant and directly came to their home. The incident originated from a situation where their son was attacked by a young man. A report was filed at the Rampur police station. The police named Dilip Dubey and his wife as witnesses in this case. The family is now seeking to annul the arrest warrant through court proceedings. This event raises serious doubts about the efficiency of police and judicial processes. No official has issued a statement regarding the matter.
