On Wednesday night in Patna, RJD leader Rajkumar Rai was murdered in a brazen shooting. The incident happened around 10 PM near Rajendra Nagar Terminal. Police are actively investigating the case, with the attackers identified in CCTV footage. Rai, a significant figure in the political arena, was also involved in real estate. After being shot, he sought refuge in a nearby shop, but he died on the way to the hospital.
Patna East SP Parichay Kumar said, “A person was shot in lane number seventeen in front of Rajendra Nagar Terminal. His name is being told as Rajkumar alias Ala Rai. Accused seen in CCTV footage. There may be other culprits as well. It is being told that this person was politically active and he also used to buy and sell land. So we are investigating every angle. Our entire police team is engaged in investigating this incident. This incident happened around 10 PM.”
Details reveal that Rai was ambushed as he neared his home, with the assailants firing upon him. He sought refuge in a nearby hotel, but the attackers followed and continued shooting. A bullet struck the hotel’s refrigerator, shattering the glass. Police arrived on the scene quickly and took Rai to PMCH, where he was pronounced dead. Six shell casings were collected from the site.
