A tragic event unfolded in the Barmer district of Rajasthan on September 21st. Around 10 AM, cries were heard coming from a house in Undu village, under the Shiv police station area. Locals who rushed to the scene found a young man’s body. His girlfriend was found beside him, grieving intensely and clinging to his body. She was heard lamenting his death and questioning his decision, expressing her sorrow and disbelief. The scene was profoundly moving for everyone present.
The deceased was Shaukat Khan, 22 years old. His 19-year-old girlfriend was in a state of utter despair. Shaukat’s brother, Jumma Khan, also arrived at the scene, heartbroken by the loss. The police were called immediately. They took possession of Shaukat’s body and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
The police investigation started. The girlfriend explained that she was in the kitchen when she went to call Shaukat. She found the door locked from the inside. Looking through the window, she saw Shaukat hanging. She then contacted Shaukat’s brother to inform him of what had happened. She said she didn’t know why Shaukat would take such a drastic step.
The deceased’s girlfriend is from Jharkhand. Jumma Khan said that he and Shaukat worked in furniture. Shaukat had brought his girlfriend to live with them some time ago. She had been living with them ever since. Everything seemed fine. Shaukat would usually confide in him if he had any problems. Jumma Khan was informed of Shaukat’s death by his girlfriend.
Locals reported that the girlfriend’s family had visited around ten days before to take her home. However, she had chosen to stay with Shaukat and refused to go with them. The family then left. SI Jalaram of the Shiv police station reported that Shaukat Khan, from Sangad Ola village, lived with his girlfriend and elder brother, Jumma Khan, in a rented house in Undu village. The case is under investigation, and authorities are trying to ascertain the cause of the apparent suicide.
