Security forces engaged in an encounter with Naxals in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, resulting in the death of two Maoists. The bodies of the slain Naxals were recovered from the scene, along with an AK-47, other weapons, and a large cache of explosives. Information had reached Narayanpur police about a significant presence of Maoists in the Abujhmad region, near the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border, suggesting the planning of an offensive. A search operation was initiated by the security forces after receiving this information. The Naxals began firing at the approaching security forces. The security forces retaliated. In the resulting exchange, two Maoists were neutralized. The encounter is ongoing with intermittent firing still taking place. In addition to the bodies, an AK-47 rifle, other weapons, a large amount of explosive materials, Maoist literature, propaganda materials, and daily use items were recovered from the site. The search operation continues, and more information will be provided once it is complete. In a separate incident, Narayanpur police, along with ITBP, destroyed a Naxal memorial in Otherbeda and Wattekel villages. This memorial, built to honor Naxals killed in a previous encounter, was a tool used by the Naxals to instill fear and spread their ideology in the area.
