The political climate in Bihar is charged ahead of the upcoming elections. While internal conflicts are brewing within Lalu Yadav’s family, the JDU is also experiencing its own internal strife. Prashant Kishor has accused JDU minister Ashok Choudhary of corruption, alleging a 200 crore rupee scandal. This has intensified the internal conflict within JDU.
In response to Prashant Kishor’s accusations, while the minister has remained silent, former JDU minister and MLC Neeraj Kumar has stepped forward. JDU spokesperson MLC Neeraj Kumar has urged Choudhary to address the accusations, distancing himself from the party’s official position. Additionally, questions have been raised about Choudhary’s characterization of Nitish Kumar as a ‘spiritual father.’
Adding to the tension, Prashant Kishor has emphasized that Ashok Choudhary must either respond to the allegations publicly or resign. This approach echoes Nitish Kumar’s prior actions, as witnessed in the previous Mahagathbandhan government, where Tejashwi Yadav was pressed to respond to accusations, and the alliance dissolved due to his failure to do so.
The core question now is whether Ashok Choudhary will address the allegations or resign from his post. Furthermore, in the context of the Bihar elections, Choudhary is under scrutiny from Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha concerning the Suryagarha seat. He also faces criticism from Minister Vijay Choudhary regarding the Barbigha seat, where he intends to support his son-in-law’s candidacy. JDU MLC Neeraj Kumar has also taken issue with his close ties to Anant Singh.
