
Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, has died. The news was confirmed on Tuesday. He was 82 years old. Funeral prayers will be conducted at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh after the Asr prayer. He also held key positions, including leading the General Presidency for Scholarly Research and Ifta and heading the Supreme Council of the Muslim World League. The Royal Court highlighted his contributions, recognizing his loss as a blow to both Saudi Arabia and the Islamic world. Sheikh Abdulaziz served as Grand Mufti for 26 years, starting in 1999 following the death of Abdulaziz bin Baz. The funeral prayers are scheduled for after the Asr prayer (3:12 PM Saudi time) at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh. King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have extended their condolences to Sheikh Abdulaziz’s family, the people of Saudi Arabia, and the wider Islamic community.
