As Super Typhoon Ragasa nears, China is undertaking mass evacuations, moving hundreds of thousands of people to safety. Schools and some businesses in a minimum of ten cities have been instructed to suspend operations. Hong Kong has issued a level eight typhoon warning, preparing for the storm’s impact. The super typhoon is forecast to make landfall in China’s Guangdong province on Wednesday, with almost 370,000 people already evacuated. Authorities have alerted citizens of a potential “catastrophic situation.” In anticipation of the storm’s strength, China’s meteorological agency has labeled it the “King of Storms.” Ragasa is also expected to move towards northern Vietnam in the coming days, with the possibility of impacting millions.
