The ICC has suspended the USA Cricket Board, a move that follows the team’s stunning victory against Pakistan in the 2024 T20I World Cup. The decision was made during a virtual board meeting on September 23. Despite the suspension, the USA team is still eligible to compete in the forthcoming T20I World Cup. The ICC’s decision has the potential to reshape the landscape of cricket in the USA. The suspension is a consequence of the USA Cricket Board’s repeated failures to adhere to its obligations as an ICC member. Previous warnings were issued, including a notice sent last year during the annual conference in Sri Lanka. Further, the board was given a three-month deadline to improve its governance structure during a meeting in Singapore. However, the board did not meet the required standards, which led to the suspension. This action, however, will not influence the cricket tournament at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The USA team is still anticipated to be among the six teams competing as the host nation.
