During a Ramleela performance in Chamba, actor Amresh Mahajan, known for his roles as Raja Dashrath, tragically died of a cardiac arrest. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at the Chaugan Ground, captured in a widely circulated video. The video depicts Mahajan collapsing on stage while performing. Immediate action was taken by fellow performers and organizers, who quickly realized the seriousness of the situation. Mahajan was promptly taken to Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital, but doctors were unable to save him. Swapan Mahajan, President of the Shri Ramleela Club, Chamba, confirmed the death and expressed sadness. Amresh Mahajan was a veteran of the Ramleela, having performed for over two decades, and was often seen in the roles of Raja Dashrath or Ravana. Club members remembered his dedication and his contributions to the event. The incident happened at 8:30 PM on Tuesday. Mahajan, seated on the throne, was delivering his lines when he lost consciousness and leaned to his left. The performance was immediately stopped while the audience watched in shock. It was noted that another similar event happened earlier when an actor playing Lord Ram died during a Ramleela in Delhi.
