Controversy has erupted following a series of technical issues during Donald Trump’s appearance at a UN General Assembly meeting. The events included a malfunctioning electric escalator and a broken teleprompter, prompting allegations of deception. Trump has accused the UN of orchestrating a plot against him. He has requested a full investigation into the matter, and the White House is also demanding accountability for those involved.
The UN’s response, delivered by Farhan Aziz Haq, a representative of Secretary-General Guterres, places blame on the White House for the teleprompter incident. Haq explained that the White House was responsible for the teleprompter’s arrangements. He added that the White House determined all the details of the speech. With the White House controlling the teleprompter, Haq questioned how it could have failed during the speech. Regarding the escalator, the UN has stated that it was operational before Trump’s arrival, and they plan to release video evidence.
During his remarks, Trump criticized the UN’s performance, connecting the teleprompter’s failure to potential job losses due to US funding cuts. The funding cuts could result in thousands of UN employees losing their jobs. Trump also spoke about the escalator incident and joked about Melania’s safety.
