The North Indian distribution of ‘Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1’ has sparked controversy due to an alleged email sent to exhibitors. The email purportedly demands a significant number of screens and showtimes for the film, causing consternation among distributors and theater owners.
A manager at a leading multiplex, speaking under the condition of anonymity, provided details of the situation. They explained that the ‘Kantara’ distributors are seeking to secure the majority of showtimes, potentially preventing the screening of Karan Johar’s ‘Sunny Sankari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. This request is viewed as a possible violation of fair trade regulations.
Theaters are actively working to resolve this issue. Discussions are planned between producer Karan Johar and the ‘Kantara’ team during the weekend. The multiplex manager noted that if the ‘Kantara’ team insists on controlling a disproportionate amount of screen time, they will have to consider dropping ‘Sunny Sankari’ from their programming.
