In an effort to end the long-standing conflict between Hamas and Israel, the United States has introduced a 21-point peace proposal. This plan seeks to cease hostilities and establish a future for a Palestinian state. The plan includes the immediate release of hostages, encouraging Palestinians to stay in the Gaza Strip, and offering amnesty to non-violent Hamas members. This initiative was shared with several Arab and Muslim countries during the UN General Assembly. The encouragement for Palestinians to remain in Gaza represents a significant change in US policy. The plan also outlines conditions for Israel, which include the disarmament of Hamas, demilitarization of Gaza, and deradicalization efforts. Former President Trump expressed optimism, stating that negotiations are underway to reach a successful agreement. The 21-point proposal encompasses various critical aspects. These include deradicalizing Gaza, rebuilding the Gaza Strip, establishing an immediate ceasefire, returning hostages within 48 hours, repatriating Palestinian prisoners and bodies, offering amnesty to peaceful Hamas members, providing humanitarian aid, establishing a temporary administration for Gaza, and creating a special economic zone. The plan also clarifies that Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza and will help to determine a long-term political structure between the US, Israel, and Palestinians.
