The death of singer Jubin Garg continues to draw controversy, with his family now actively seeking answers. Officially, the cause of death is listed as drowning in Singapore on September 19, 2025. However, Garg’s family believes the circumstances surrounding his passing warrant further investigation and has filed a complaint with the Assam CID.
The complaint, filed online by Garg’s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, along with his sister-in-law and uncle, challenges the initial reports. They were in Singapore for the North East India Festival, where Jubin was to perform on September 20th.
Garima Saikia has clarified that the incident did not involve scuba diving but happened while swimming with friends. Despite autopsies in Singapore and Assam confirming drowning as the cause, with no evidence of foul play, the family remains unconvinced.
Focusing on potential negligence, the family has directly accused Jubin Garg’s manager, Siddhartha Sharma, and the festival organizer, Shyamkanu Mahanta. A named complaint has been filed, with the complaint also including details about other individuals involved in the trip to Singapore.
The family is calling for a full investigation. Authorities have received the complaint, and the CID is expected to commence its investigation imminently.
Reports indicate the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has issued summons to the festival organizer and Garg’s manager, setting a deadline of October 6 for their participation in the inquiry. Summons have also been sent to a dozen other individuals from Assam who were present on the boat with Garg. The Chief Minister of Assam has confirmed that summons were issued via the Indian Embassy in Singapore, and that Interpol lookout notices have been put in place to prevent Sharma and Mahanta from leaving the country.
