
In the aftermath of the stampede at the rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, where 40 people died and 95 were injured, Shashi Tharoor has voiced his concern over the incidents. He pointed out the flaws in crowd management and the frequency of such tragedies across the country. Tharoor called for the creation of strict rules and guidelines to govern large gatherings, ensuring the safety of attendees. He believes such measures are crucial to prevent the unnecessary loss of lives in stampedes. Compensation has been announced by both the Chief Minister and Prime Minister. The Chief Minister has announced 10 lakhs for the deceased and 1 lakh for the injured. The Prime Minister has announced 2 lakhs from the PM relief fund for the deceased, and actor Vijay has announced 20 lakhs and 2 lakhs for the deceased and injured, respectively.
