The CBI has revealed details regarding the death of Virendra Dev Dixit, the prime suspect in the Rohini ashram case involving sexual abuse and confinement of female disciples. Dixit, who had been a fugitive since 2017, was the subject of a manhunt, with a reward offered for his capture. The CBI’s Hyderabad unit confirmed his death in January 2025. The court will now consider the CBI’s request to close the cases against the deceased Dixit. The court will also assess pending investigations related to missing girls, sexual crimes, and a suicide linked to the ashram. The premises where the atrocities occurred were heavily secured with barbed wire. The investigation into Dixit’s crimes extended as far as Nepal in an attempt to locate him and bring him to justice.
