The Murhu police station in Khunti district, approximately 50 kilometers from Ranchi, Jharkhand, was the site of a tragic incident where BSF jawan Rahul Manjhi died by suicide. The event caused considerable concern in the district. Senior officials, including SP Manish Toppo and DSP Varun Rajak, quickly responded to the scene, and a high-level investigation is underway.
The Khunti District SP has taken action, suspending the station officer of Murhu police station, Ramdev Yadav. It was reported that the BSF jawan hanged himself in the bathroom of the police station this morning. The deceased, Rahul Manjhi, was posted in Siliguri and had been on leave, not returning to his post.
Information suggests that Rahul Manjhi was in the vicinity of Mahil village when a young woman accused him of harassment. The local residents detained him in the Meral area and informed the Murhu police. The police subsequently arrested the jawan on the harassment charges and detained him. It was later found that on Tuesday, the jawan used an electrical wire attached to the bathroom ventilator to end his life.
The family and wife of the deceased BSF jawan reached the police station and made serious accusations against the police. The administration has initiated an inquiry into the entire case. Because the deceased was a BSF personnel, the investigation will be conducted under the supervision of a magistrate, who will also oversee the post-mortem.
