Vicky Kaushal has established himself as a leading actor in Bollywood through his acting prowess over a decade. His ability to connect with the audience has made him a popular star. While he has delivered numerous hits, some of his films have struggled at the box office. This article discusses one such film, which was made on a budget of ₹45 crore but failed to recover a significant portion, earning only ₹6 crore.
Kaushal’s journey began with smaller roles before he took on leading roles. His debut as a lead actor was in the 2015 film ‘Masaan’. He has a successful track record with films like ‘Raazi’, ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, ‘Chhava’, and ‘Sanju’, but also has faced setbacks with certain projects.
The movie in question, ‘The Great Indian Family,’ was released on September 22, 2023. The film features a cast including Manushi Chhillar, Saloni Khanna, Bhuvan Arora, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, and Srishti Dixit. The film was directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, with Aditya Chopra producing.
Vicky Kaushal played Ved Vyas Tripathi, or Billu, in the film. ‘The Great Indian Family’ had a tough competition from Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’. While ‘Jawan’ was a phenomenal success, ‘The Great Indian Family’ did not perform well. Despite a budget of ₹45 crore, the film only made ₹5.6 crore in India.
Kaushal was last seen in the blockbuster ‘Chhava.’ His upcoming project is ‘Love & War,’ where he will star alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is directing this film, which is slated for release in 2026.
