The Kremlin has warned that the actions taken by the Trump administration to support Ukraine could potentially lead to catastrophic outcomes for the world. Russian officials are cautioning that the provision of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine could drastically escalate the ongoing conflict.
These statements were made by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who stated that Moscow would view such a move as a major provocation. He noted that this would represent a serious escalation of tensions and would necessitate a strong response from Russia.
The Kremlin’s warning comes amidst discussions about the United States allowing Ukraine to use long-range missiles to strike targets inside Russia. This represents a possible shift in policy by the Trump administration, a development that Moscow views as crossing a dangerous threshold. Peskov rejected the idea that any single advanced weapon could significantly change the course of the war, and he reiterated that Russia’s military objectives remain unchanged.
Peskov stated that no single weapon would change the situation on the front lines and would not ensure Kyiv’s victory. He also cautioned that some US officials have indicated approval for long-range attacks inside Russia, adding that Russia will retaliate if such actions occur, and the consequences will be severe. He expressed Russia’s commitment to peace and placed the blame on Kyiv for blocking any progress in this direction.
