Released on the occasion of Vijayadashami, ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,’ starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, has faced a tough challenge at the box office, particularly against Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1.’ Despite the presence of Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf in the cast, the film has not performed well, failing to win over viewers. Actress Surbhi Chandna’s recent experience with the film perfectly illustrates this point.
Chandna, along with her husband Karan Sharma, attended a screening of the movie. During the intermission, Karan captured her reaction, with Chandna humorously stating that only the samosa she was eating was enjoyable. On her Instagram story, she wrote, “I blame you for dragging me into this filth.” During a climactic scene, Chandna was audibly heard shouting for the film to be stopped, which her husband shared, calling the film a “new weapon of mass destruction” for Bollywood.
The financial contrast is striking. ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ reportedly earned over 100 crores in India within the first two days, while ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ struggled to reach 15 crores. Surbhi Chandna, a veteran of Indian television, has starred in popular shows such as ‘Naagin,’ ‘Ishqbaaaz,’ and ‘Sherdil Shergill,’ as well as the film ‘Bobby Jasoos’ in 2014.
