The Karur stampede, which took place during a rally organized by actor Vijay, is under intense scrutiny with the investigation now focusing on the deployment of ambulances and the emergency response. Police questioned ambulance drivers present at the September 27th event, where 41 people died and 60 were injured. The Karur Town Police are gathering information from the drivers regarding the communication they received and the number of ambulances dispatched. Authorities seek to understand who contacted the drivers and the extent of the calls made to both government and private hospitals. During the incident, TVK had arranged five ambulances near police quarters. Following the stampede, the police used a microphone to notify the authorities, who then requested immediate assistance from Amaravati Hospital. The National SC/ST Commission also visited the site. The Madras High Court has ordered a Special Investigation Team led by Asra Garg to investigate the stampede. The court has reportedly criticized Vijay’s party officials regarding the event.
