The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, is set to preside over an event in Rajgir to recognize and support the state’s athletes. The event will feature the distribution of government job selection letters to 87 outstanding athletes. In addition, approximately 8 crore rupees will be awarded as sports सम्मान राशि to 812 athletes. This event will be held at the State Sports Academy in Rajgir on October 5th.
Ravindran Shankaran, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Bihar State Sports Authority, provided further details. Under the Medal Lao Naukri Pao scheme, launched by the Bihar government, athletes who have achieved success in national and international competitions this year will receive government job offers. A total of 87 athletes are slated to receive these letters, including 39 women and 48 men.
The selected athletes will be appointed to various government departments based on their qualifications. This includes positions ranging from Class One to other categories as required. Among the athletes selected for government jobs, 10 will be appointed as Police Sub-Inspectors with a pay grade of 4200/-, and 8 of these appointees are women. Furthermore, one athlete will be appointed as a Child Welfare Officer with a pay grade of 5400/-, while 65 athletes will be appointed as Lower Division Clerks in the 1900-2000/- pay grade, and 11 will be appointed as office attendants.
Also, an amount of approximately 8 crore rupees (7,43,00,000/-) will be given as खेल सम्मान राशि to a total of 812 individuals, including athletes, coaches, sports associations, and sports officials from Bihar who have excelled in 44 different sports at national and international levels. The खेल सम्मान राशि aims to appreciate their hard work and achievements.
The recipients of the खेल सम्मान राशि include 152 para-athletes, 631 athletes, 24 coaches, five sports associations, and one sports official. Out of the total, there are 783 athletes comprising 297 female and 486 male athletes. Since 2022 up to this year 2025, the Bihar government has distributed approximately 23.5 crore rupees in खेल सम्मान राशि to 2085 outstanding athletes across the state.
