The sequel leverages the momentum of its predecessor, reflecting in its impressive opening performance. While a slight dip in earnings occurred, the film is poised to overshadow many established films by the close of its opening weekend. The film’s cinematic storytelling has ignited fan interest, with expectations of its potential to be the first 1000-crore film of 2025. Within just two days, the movie has displayed a strong global performance. In India, ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ initiated with a commanding start, amassing 60 crore rupees on its debut day, and thriving in Hindi-speaking markets. The film’s net collection in India has reached 106.85 crore rupees within two days, with a gross collection of 128.25 crore rupees. Projections estimate a collection of about 200 crore rupees in India by the end of the weekend. The film has also become the leading Kannada film of 2025, exceeding the 92 crore collection of ‘S u From So’. Overseas, ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has delivered an outstanding performance. On its opening day, it earned 13 crore rupees abroad, and approximately 10 crore rupees on the second day, totaling around 23-24 crore rupees overseas. Its worldwide collection hit 151 crore rupees within two days. The film has outperformed Akshay Kumar’s movies like ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ (144 crore rupees) and ‘Sky Force’ (150 crore rupees) rapidly. The film is now eyeing the records of Salman Khan’s ‘Sikandar’ and Ram Charan’s ‘Game Changer’, which grossed 180-190 crore rupees.
